I’m new to Linkedin…but I’m still saying WOW! I guess it’s like a business version of Facebook…but the potential to connect and have a business conversation is much more powerful in my opinion.
Linkedin is at http://www.linkedin.com
I’m on it for the long term.
Usefully, you can search companies and their staff who are linkedin. THAT’s going to ease the pursuit of new talent.
Now, I’m not sure about the maths around potential connections…after all, you can only have one conversation with a connection at one time…and who’s going to spend days researching 800,000 connections ( apparently my current network )…and emailing until your fingers hurt….but you never know.
Usefully, again, Linkedin seems to have tools to make that easier.
Anyway, I’m hooked…hookedin to Linkedin…sounds like an ad….but it’s not.
Have a look. It’s not just a way to get a hidden job…it’s an effective channel to build your profile…and leverage your network’s experience and IP. Technology wins again!
cheers!

In these recesionary times, security for one’s customers, staff, cash and assets is a very serious issue…and one that should be regularly reviewed.
Prudent safeguards and planning for security breach scenarios makes sense. Business transformation is a holistic process…and one that should cover off all the risks.
The four issues I first focus on when helping organisations are cash, creditors, customers and staff.
And the question I apply is…are we secure? It focuses the mind.
Maybe we can help you transform your business to higher profits?
Email me for a quick chat around the issues that are currently generating corporate pain.
cheers!

Pete Jeans Director SMO in Sydney Australia
Cut-through in everything you do….especially in the quality of customer relationship management
You can make a real difference by adding value to your customer relationships when reinvigorating your marketing and operational processes.
This will build capability and value in customers’ eyes.
It’s not just about whether you get on well with your customers…although that’s important.
It is about whether you’ve put in place the initiatives that respond directly to their needs. It’s a partnering approach across multi-levels of their organisations….responding to information needs, joint measurement of agreed performance criteria, streamlined processes to gain efficiencies and save costs, accurate paperwork and invoicing, clarity of terms, processes to resolve ambiguity or sticking points and so on.
If the relationship is characterised by commitment and demonstrable action to add value, the relationship with grow in importance and trust.
What better way to block out your competitors?

Compared with the last recession, the compelling learning to apply today is around focusing on your current customers. Competitors are rational in tight times. They will follow your behaviour if you’re rational too. There’s no point in taking share at lower margins when volume growth simply ain’t available.
Effective value propositions will sustainably deliver more profit if you can add value to your customer base… because you will be meeting their current and future needs .
Key result areas for customers are mission critical…are you focusing closely enough?
Key result areas that really matter follow:
Profitable customers
New product and service development
Knowledge management
Market intelligence
Information delivery
Talent development
Leadership
Stakeholder support
Financial performance
Regular planning and measurement
Why is this suite of KRA’s so important? Because they’re all related. Selecting one KRA is inadequate. Selecting a few is inadequate. Choose them all and you choose your future.

Late last week I attended a public lecture at the UNSW in Sydney (Australia) by Dr. Pachauri, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and a leading commentator in this space (the IPCC is sponsored apparently by the UN ).
My guess is that over 1000 people packed into the room to hear what I interpreted as science and common-sense about the likely impacts of climate change.
Impacts will likely include issues around food security, rising sea levels, extreme event frequency, weather intensity, varying yields in crops and so on….depending on where you live on this planet.
Dr. Pachauri proposed that climate change is happening because development ( human-driven) is occuring on an unsustainable basis…driving continuing emmissions of greenhouse gases.
Do I believe him? Probably.
What can business do about climate change? Probably play an integrated and supportive role together with individual government initiatives to reduce carbon emmissions.
But the compelling issue that emerged from his comments was that the global community has just a few short years to get our act together. Now that…was a WOW factor I didn’t expect.
